January 2019 – Specimen Claims

Hi there!

A great month with some brilliant specimens being recorded.

I shall be putting forward at the next delegates meeting a rise in one specimen size. It will not affect any fish that have already been recorded and it will only affect the boat section. Our specimen size for the boat caught Blue Shark stands at 62lbs. As all Sharks are now to be returned and our policy is to do just this. This fish is now eligible for the season’s awards. During the period when boat anglers target this fish, it would have an unfair advantage over other boat caught species. I will put forward a specimen weight of 90lb (40.860 kg).

Obviously I will keep you informed.

Will update you in a month.

Keith Reed. Fish Recorder.

And the Season award front runners so far…..

Well done chaps, cracking fish!

Award Winners 2018

A huge well done to all the winners and specimen catchers below!

Regrettably there will be no formal presentation of awards this year, apologies to anyone that may have been planning to come.

Numbers have dwindled over the years and although there is competition to win,  recognition of fish etc. the cups and trophies are not all being collected.

We are introducing a new system whereby all winners will receive a bespoke cloth badge and a special certificate to acknowledge and record their ‘special , catch. These will be sent out to the clubs.

So, how did the clubs fare?

Wow! once again, a huge well done to all of the anglers above, and a huge well done to our fish recorder Keith Reed, for a fantastic job once again.

November 2018 – Specimen Claims

Notes from the Fish Recorder

Hi there!

Some good fish coming in late in the year. The outright winners of both the Shore & the Boat Autumn Season’s awards are listed. It was a close run thing with all the contenders putting in some fine specimens.

Look elsewhere on the BCFSA web pages for our annual award sheets. Quite a few alterations have come about over the last twelve months a new junior trophy (R.Talbot trophy) is now in the major list. Two trophies have been amalgamated, the (D.Metcalfe  & N.S.C Tope) also the (P.Smith & Veal’s Bass).      The Species trophy and aggregate shield have both been discontinued. The trophies listed are the only ones now in vogue.

The winners of the awards will either be awarded a prestigious embroidered badge or equally a certificate.

            Will update you again,

            Keith Reed.
